Better insight into your entire logistic process?
Introducing the Internet of Things.
Introducing the Internet of Things.
We know that every link in the process has an effect on the quality of your service provision. We are therefore always considering new possibilities and solutions, as well as ways to improve your business operations and increase efficiency. Technological developments are indispensable in this regard.
One of the most important innovations is the Internet of Things, whereby data is collected and stored in the cloud. IoT is still relatively new within our sector, but it will become an increasingly important part of your business operations as a whole. This is because by collecting and analysing data, you can obtain a better insight into your entire logistic process, after which you can optimise the process where necessary.
Because Van Vliet likes to contribute ideas and respond to developments, we have developed a VV connect module in collaboration with our IT partner. This device will be installed in your containers. All kinds of data will then be collected and sent to the cloud. This will tell you where your containers are located, you can monitor the temperature and humidity, and you can see when a container has been opened and closed. Your containers are, as it were, connected to the cloud.
With a better insight into the process, you can further improve your service provision. For instance, this may concern increasing the circulation rate of your logistic carriers. It is also easy to retrieve information on the environmental factors at any given time, as the entire history remains available.
Since you follow the entire process, you have a better insight into the total route and history of your containers. For instance, if a container tends to stay a long time at the return location, you can take action. If the products you deliver are sensitive to temperature fluctuations, the VV connect module can tell you how constant the temperature is. If you desire, you can receive a push notification if the temperature exceeds or falls below a certain value. The same applies to the humidity. If you are transporting medications or valuable products, you want to make sure that the containers cannot be opened prematurely. The chip registers exactly when a container is opened and closed.
With a better insight into the process, you can further improve your service provision. For instance, this may concern increasing the circulation rate of your logistic carriers, but also the often strict laws and regulations. As all data is registered, it is easy to demonstrate to third parties what the environmental factors were at any given time. Furthermore, the entire history of a container remains available in the cloud, making it easy for you to retrieve information.
The device is only 8 cm long, 2.5 cm wide and 2.5 cm deep. It has an average useful life of 10 to 13 years, so it is very user-friendly, as you do not have to worry about empty batteries. A message containing up-to-date information is sent every 4 hours. If you would like more frequent updates, this is also possible, although the device will then naturally have a shorter useful life. Incidentally, you do not need to concern yourself about hacking. The device is not connected to your network but it works with a satellite network and everything takes place in the cloud.
The device is part of our complete service provision and can be tailored specifically to your requirements. A message containing up-to-date information is sent every 4 hours. The device lasts for 10 to 13 years on average.
